Canned responses: Using email templates with Gmail
Gmail is a necessary evil email to most people. On the one hand it's ubiquitous (click to find the evil clown), on the other, it's hard to use.
The thing is, it actually has some great features once you get to know it. One of those features is Canned Response from Google Labs.
To use this feature you will need to turn it on.
- Go to Google Labs
- Scroll down until you see Canned Response (look at the picture)
- Click on "enable"
Once you have it enabled you will see a link to "Canned Response" under your Subject line.
To save an email, write the email in the compose window, click on the "Canned Response" link under the subject line and click save. An email with the name used in your subject line will be created. You use a canned response by going to the same menu and clicking on the title of the one you want to use. You also delete or update your responses from this menu.
The downside is that you can't save photos as part of a canned response. Still it's a great feature that you probably want to try out.
